FLW's Leicester City fan pundit has identified one realistic signing they'd love to see the Foxes make this summer.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more...
Leicester City have given their supporters something to take into the summer, finishing their ill-fated 2024/25 Premier League season strongly ahead of their return to Championship football next term.
The Foxes have picked up wins over fellow relegation comrades Southampton and Ipswich Town this month, as well as securing an impressive draw away from home at Nottingham Forest.
As such, despite suffering relegation back to the Championship this season, Foxes fans have at least had some results to cheer about in the final weeks of the campaign, and has offered a shred of positivity for them to take into the summer.
With a vitally important summer transfer window just around the corner, we asked our Leicester City fan pundit, Louchlainn Martin: 'What is one realistic signing you'd love Leicester to make this summer and why?'
Louchlainn said: "So after 13 incredible years, Jamie Vardy has left the football club, and that's exactly why I think the signing Leicester City should make first - and kind of a statement signing - is Josh Sargent.
"We need a striker now. Of course, it's going to be pretty much impossible for somebody to come in and fill the shoes of Jamie Vardy, but I think Josh Sargent could do a good job of it.
"Now let's be honest, replacing Vardy isn't just about goals: it's about identity and intensity. Vardy was an outlet and a threat in behind, he made defenders uncomfortable from minute one.
"With him gone, Leicester need someone who can offer energy, work-rate and finishing - especially if we want to bounce back. That's why I think Josh Sargent would be a good fit.
"He's had a good season again, 15 goals and five assists in the Championship, 16 goals last season and 13 the year before that. He's a proven Championship goalscorer."
Over the past three seasons, Sargent has certainly established himself as one of the best centre-forwards in the Championship, with a strong case to be made for him being the best.
The American international is a deadly poacher, with 14 of his 15 league goals this season coming from inside the box (per FotMob), with this Fox in the box ability similar to that of Vardy.
So, along with the fact he's contracted with the Canaries until 2028, should Sargent move on this summer, he will surely command a hefty fee.
"He's only 25, he's quick across the ground, he works incredibly hard off the ball, so he does tick a lot of Vardy boxes," Louchlainn continued.
"He's achievable in my eyes, £10-15m - I know there will be some Norwich fans who will say he's going to be worth more than that.
"I honestly don't think so. I think £15m would be enough to get the deal done, personally. It might be just enough to make it happen. He's hungry, he's already proven in the division, and I think he fits the club's direction.
"It's not a gamble, it's probably a smart move. So, that's why I would love to see Leicester City sign Josh Sargent this summer."
