Lille striker Jonathan David is preparing for a summer of intense transfer speculation, with his contract nearing its end and no renewal in sight at Les Dogues. As reported by RMC Sport journalist Florent Germain, David’s situation is attracting heavyweight attention across Europe and beyond.
David, 25, is already firmly on the radar of six Premier League clubs: Newcastle, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Chelsea, and Liverpool. With 24 goals to his name this season, his reputation as a clinical finisher is firmly intact.

According to Germain, Marseille are also weighing a move. However, “OM are looking at free agents (this summer),” Germain revealed on his Marseille podcast. “Jonathan David? I think that at the very least, OM has already or will try to sign him.”
A switch to OM, though, looks problematic. Marseille’s chances hinge precariously on Champions League qualification. Without it, luring David amid such fierce competition could prove impossible.
Beyond English shores, European giants are lining up. Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and Juventus are all said to be monitoring the Canadian’s situation closely. Speaking on the It’s Called Soccer podcast, David revealed a clear desire to play in La Liga, a league he admires deeply. He has also long dreamed of playing for Barcelona — a move that would suit both his ambitions and playing style.
While David continues to hint that he could yet stay at Lille, the general consensus is that his departure is inevitable. His next destination will likely define the next stage of his career, with opportunities aplenty but decisions weighing heavily.
Jonathan David’s name popping up on Liverpool’s radar feels electric! With Arne Slot now steering the Reds into a new era, adding a player like David would be an incredible statement. He’s young, technically sound, clinical in front of goal, and carries the sort of drive that fits the Liverpool ethos perfectly.
His 24 goals this season underline a consistency that Liverpool desperately needs, especially if questions around Mohamed Salah’s long-term future continue. Imagine David pressing high, linking with Darwin Núñez and Luis Díaz, and offering Liverpool flexibility in attack.
Of course, the competition is daunting. Newcastle’s financial muscle, Manchester United’s pulling power, and Chelsea’s unpredictability make this a tough race. And if David’s heart is set on La Liga, Liverpool might need to act swiftly and persuasively.
Yet with Champions League football likely secured and the lure of Anfield’s atmosphere, Liverpool should be right in the conversation. If Arne Slot wants to build something fresh and fearless, David could be the perfect foundation stone. It’s one transfer chase that should have every Red’s heart racing!
