In a dramatic end to the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park on Wednesday, Curtis Jones, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Arne Slot were all shown red cards by referee Michael Oliver following the final whistle.

In the case of Jones and Doucoure, the pair were shown second yellow cards, suggesting they’ll both receive a one-match ban. But Slot was shown a straight red, and the length of his suspension is currently unclear.

The Premier League initially confirmed a two-match ban, writing on their website (via TNT Sports): “Liverpool head coach Arne Slot was dismissed at the end of the Merseyside derby for using offensive, insulting, or abusive language. He is handed a two-match touchline ban as a result.”

But the website has since removed all references to the suspension, suggesting the length of the ban hasn’t yet been finalised.

The Mirror write that the FA are waiting to go through the referee’s report before making a decision, despite the Premier League jumping the gun on announcing the suspension.

At the very least, Slot should miss Liverpool’s next game against Wolves, which Jones will also miss. Given this is Slot’s second suspension of the season, he could miss the following match against Aston Villa as well.

The ban could even be longer than that, which would raise the possibility of Slot missing the following games against Manchester City and Newcastle United. For now, we’re still awaiting official confirmation.
