Liverpool face injury setbacks ahead of crucial PSG clash

Liverpool’s season has been one of dominance on the domestic front, with Arne Slot’s side now shifting their focus towards the Champions League. A 2-0 victory over Newcastle last time out extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points, and while Slot remains measured, the title appears within touching distance.
With that in mind, the looming clash against Paris Saint-Germain carries even greater significance. Liverpool have been a force in Europe this season, and an exit at this stage – even against a side as formidable as PSG – would be a bitter disappointment. However, heading into this decisive period, injuries are beginning to bite.
One of the key strengths of Slot’s Liverpool squad has been its depth, particularly in areas where the first-choice options are world-class. Trent Alexander-Arnold remains the undisputed right-back, yet Conor Bradley’s emergence has provided much-needed cover and competition.

However, Bradley’s involvement in the immediate future looks doubtful. The Northern Ireland international was forced off injured against Aston Villa last month and is now set to miss at least the first leg against PSG.
Speaking before the Newcastle match, Slot confirmed the setback:“Conor Bradley isn’t ok. He is out for a few weeks. It is clear that he went off with a muscle injury and it will take a while before he is back.”
Bradley’s return date remains unknown, but his absence deprives Liverpool of a reliable alternative in a crucial period.
Few players have endured as much frustration on the injury front this season as Joe Gomez. The defender’s campaign has been plagued by setbacks, with a hamstring injury sustained against West Ham in December keeping him out for an extended spell.
After briefly returning in Liverpool’s shock FA Cup exit to Plymouth, Gomez suffered another blow. Slot has since confirmed that he faces another period on the sidelines.

“He is going to be out for a number of weeks because of a hamstring injury,” Slot said.
“It’s a big blow for Joe and for us. He tries everything to be with the team. He works really hard to come back and then first game when he came back, after two or three minutes we saw him making a sprint and now he is out for weeks again.”
With Liverpool’s schedule intensifying, losing players to injury at this stage could prove costly. Slot has already managed absences well throughout the campaign, but with silverware in sight, the depth of his squad will be tested like never before.
