Down by a goal heading into the game, Liverpool were on the front foot in the early stages as they sought parity, with Tottenham defending stoically around their own penalty area with a series of fine blocks.

The Reds thought that they had broken through on the half hour mark but Dominik Szoboszlai strayed offside before firing past Kinsky, handing Tottenham a massive let off.

Minutes later though, they were ahead as Tottenham failed to clear a cross from Mo Salah, allowing Cody Gakpo to volley home at the back post to leave the tie level.

The first half got worse for Spurs as Richarlison was forced off with injury, providing an early debut for Mathys Tel, but they at least managed to keep it at 1-0 heading into the interval.

Just minutes into the second half though, any hopes of keeping Liverpool out were dashed when Kinsky felled Darwin Núñez, conceding a penalty which Mo Salah confidently smashed into the top corner to put the Reds on course for Wembley.

Still Tottenham couldn't string an attack together, and the hosts added a third for good measure when Conor Bradley slipped in Szoboszlai 15 minutes from time who coolly poked beyond Kinsky.

Belately, Tottenham chugged into gear as Heung-Min Son thumped an effort off the crossbar, but they were punished further as Virgil Van Dijk rose highest to thump home a header with 10 minutes to go.wof

As Spurs fans headed for the exits en masse, Liverpool fans revelled in their side's success as they eye up a first trophy under Arne Slot in what could still be a fairytale season.
