The match ended in a 2–2 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal at Anfield. Liverpool held a 2–0 lead at halftime, but a frustrating second-half performance saw the champions drop points at home. But where did Liverpool excel, and where did they fall short today?

The match started brightly, with Liverpool dominating Arsenal, as goals from Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo came just a minute apart. However, the second half was marred by sloppy defensive errors, uncertainty around the penalty area, and an overall sense that the team was eager for the season to end. It’s clear that Mohamed Salah is determined to break the 20-assist record, but today wasn’t his day. The Egyptian struggled once again. Another clear point is the substitution of Trent Alexander Arnold having a role to play in the atmosphere, as every move of his was marked with a boo from the Liverpool fans. Much like last week, the guard of honour was great, but the performance didn’t match the occasion.
However, there’s not much to read into this performance, as the game holds little significance for the Reds in the grand scheme of things. Now, Liverpool will look to finish the season strong and focus on strengthening the squad for next year, as it’s clear that improvements are needed.
