Udinese’s decision to retain Lorenzo Lucca in January may prove fruitful in the coming months, as the striker is set to spark a bidding war among Serie A clubs next summer, with Roma and Napoli already showing significant interest.

The 24-year-old has impressed this season with nine goals, establishing himself as the third-most prolific Italian striker in the league after Mateo Retegui and Moise Kean.

Although Milan seemed to be the most interested team in him during January, their pursuit has cooled after signing Santiago Gimenez, leaving the field open for the Giallorossi and the Partenopei.

Roma and Napoli eye Lucca summer move

Udinese knew that waiting until next summer could further intensify the transfer battle among the player’s suitors. According to Calciomercato.com, any club interested in signing the forward will be required to pay at least €30m, a price that the club believes reflects his potential as a top-tier talent.

Napoli and Roma are currently considered the keenest teams to make a move, as they have been in talks with his agent for weeks.

Lucca is in his second season at Udinese and has already surpassed last year’s goal tally, having scored eight league goals in 37 appearances during his debut campaign at the club.
