Who else but Argentine legend Lionel Messi?
On a night where Inter Miami can bank their first-ever MLS Supporters Shield, it just had to be Messi to pop up with two goals on the stroke of half-time to put the Herons in the lead against a vaunted Columbus Crew side.
In a match that was starved of action in front of goal, Messi settled a ball over the top before slotting past Patrick Schulte.
But the former Barcelona talisman was not done there.
Five minutes later, Messi did what Messi does in dead-ball situations and dispatched a curling free-kick around the Crew wall to double Miami’s lead.
It was the 842nd and 843rd goals of what has been a glistening career, with Messi now sitting on 27 MLS goal contributions (17 goals & 10 assists) on the season in just 17 appearances for Tata Martino’s men.
