Manchester United are reportedly embroiled in the race to sign Harry Kane next summer, but the identity of their rivals could be rather surprising.

The Red Devils are desperate for attacking reinforcement in the summer, especially after failing in their mission to sign Mathys Tel in January. INEOS failed to strike an agreement with Bayern Munich, while Tottenham Hotspur went the extra mile and reached the finish line.

Although German journalist Christian Falk believes Tel could still end up joining Man Utd in the summer since he’s only on loan at Spurs, the Reds could instead opt for a more prolific Bayern striker in the shape of Kane.

The England captain has been in red-hot form this season, scoring 26 goals and creating 10 assists in his 27 appearances across all competitions.

However, it has been recently revealed that the bomber’s contract with the Bavarian giants includes a release clause worth €80 million which would allow him to leave in the summer.

Therefore, Kane’s contractual situation has piqued the interest of several suitors, and chief among them Man Utd who are crying out for a deadly marksman amidst the struggles of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.

But according to Fichajes.net, United are joined in the race by two unexpected suitors. The first is Tottenham who would like to bring back their all-time leading goalscorer.

This would be a shocking twist considering how the Englishman spent several years trying to convince Daniel Levy and Co. to grant him safe passage, only to get the green light in the summer of 2023 when Bayern came forward with an offer worth €95 million.

Hence, it remains to be seen if Kane would be enticed by a homecoming just two years following his departure on a quest to earn silverware (which has yet to come).

The other unexpected challenge for Man Utd comes from the Saudi Pro League, as Al-Ahli are reportedly plotting to reunite Kane with fellow England striker Ivan Toney who joined the club last summer.
