The January transfer window will offer Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim his first chance to reshape the team according to his vision.
However, the most substantial changes are expected next summer, with Amorim reportedly keeping an eye on a Paris Saint-Germain player who may be open to leaving.
Last summer, United signed Manuel Ugarte from PSG, and the midfielder is now thriving under Amorim’s leadership. Yet, the Portuguese coach is said to be targeting another former Sporting Lisbon player currently at PSG.
CaughtOffside reported this week, citing sources, that Manchester United remain interested in Nuno Mendes. The report suggests he is pleased with the club’s interest following discussions with his representatives.
Should Mendes fail to agree to a contract extension with PSG, the Ligue 1 club is expected to consider offers in the region of €70 million during the summer transfer window.

Football pundit Micah Richards has raised concerns about Manchester United’s transfer plans for January, suggesting the club may have to wait until the summer of 2025 to make significant signings following their costly summer spree under Erik ten Hag.
“I don’t think he’s going to get the players that he wants in January,” Richards said (h/t The Mirror). “But I think in the summer we’re going to see five or six players come in.
“I was a little bit disappointed in the showing, and that’s not the manager. Obviously the manager needs time to implement his style, but it was almost like a fizzy drink I expected so much, they started so well, then it just fizzled out a little bit.”
Should the Red Devils wait until the summer, the rumors linking them to Nuno Mendes will drag on. Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport reports that Mendes wants to leave Paris, with contract extension talks at a standstill. The left-back has rejected the club’s offers, feeling his proposed wages don’t reflect his role as a regular starter.
Mendes is now considering alternatives, with Manchester United having already made an offer that has caught his attention. Several other top clubs are also monitoring the situation, but despite the strained relationship between Mendes and PSG, the Ligue 1 leaders remain firm in their stance, insisting they will not sell him in January and are still pushing for an extension.
