One player who would add what Manchester City are screaming out for in midfield is AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders. The Dutch international is a goal-scoring midfielder, and his technical ability and drive from deep in midfield would perfectly complement what City’s midfield currently has. Now a new report indicates that City are advancing with their move for the Dutch international. That is positive news ahead of a crucial transfer window for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Ben Dixon has relayed a report for Sempre Milan from Milan News that discussions between Manchester City and AC Milan over a deal for Tijjani Reijnders are at an ‘advanced stage’. Furthermore, Sempre Milan reports that AC Milan could be forced to sell a quality player due to their financial situation. Tijjani Reijnders is looming as the player that AC Milan could sell as per the Sempre Milan report.

Manchester City need goals and creativity in midfield and two players could add that in spades.

Pep Guardiola’s squad is in desperate need of goals and creativity in midfield. The imminent departure of Kevin De Bruyne further highlights this issue. There is no player pound-for-pound who can replace De Bruyne. That’s an impossible task to complete, and a void that cannot be filled with one player. But by signing two, with one of those players being Tijjani Reijnders that would help fill the De Bruyne void and add goals, drive and creativity to Manchester City’s midfield. Signing a combination of Tijjani Reijnders and Morgan Gibbs-White for example, would add the attributes that City’s midfield needs.

That group of midfielders would have goals, creativity and drive and be a formidable midfield unit.

Based on the Sempre Milan report it seems that City are pressing ahead with a move for Tijjani Reijnders. That is good news from a Manchester City point of view. The sooner they can agree a transfer fee, and deal, with AC Milan the better and that could be edging closer based on today’s report.
