The 30-year-old centre-back took to her personal instragram account to announce the news this morning.
Kennedy joined Manchester City on a free transfer back in summer 2021 and she has gone on to provide a reliable option for head coach Gareth Taylor. The defender has made 64 appearances for The Cityzens in all competitions while she has scored two goals. Kennedy was a Subway Women’s League Cup winner with Manchester City in 2021/2022.
The Australian international has been a regular in the Manchester City side this season but the player has now deemed it to be the right time to move onto a new challenge.
Announcing her Manchester City exit this morning, Kennedy said “Manchester has been my home for the past three-and-a-half years and I’m leaving with a lot of amazing memories.
“I’ve had some real career highlights playing for this team and made some friends for life. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who supported me during my time here.
“In particular, I want to thank the support staff and everyone at the club who has helped me personally and professionally.
“And last but certainly not the least, I want to thank my teammates. It’s been a privilege to play alongside you all and I wish all of you continued success for the rest of the season and beyond.”
Kennedy is expected to join American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Angel City.
