Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen for the club to seal the transfer return of Angel Gomes as he becomes a free agent this summer.
The Lille midfielder, who had a spell at Man Utd as a youngster earlier in his career, is nearing the end of his contract with his current club, and it seems the Red Devils are keen to bring him back to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Briefing.
Gomes has shone at Lille and it makes sense that he’s now attracting interest from some big clubs ahead of this summer as he looks a fine market opportunity on a free transfer.
The Daily Briefing’s report also claims that Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa are among Gomes’ suitors, while he also has interest from Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig.
However, the report states that Gomes’ preference would be to return to the Premier League.

Gomes is clearly a top talent and it’s easy to imagine him being an asset for most Premier League clubs, but it will be interesting to see where he thinks would be the best move for him at this stage of his career.
It might be tempting for the 24-year-old to go back to United and prove a point to the club that let him go in the past, or perhaps he’ll view that as something of a step backwards.
If so, Newcastle would surely be a tempting option for him, with Eddie Howe doing great work to make the club more competitive in recent years.
Likewise, Villa are also really going places under Unai Emery, so that could be seen as a tempting destination right now, whilst also being somewhere he should get a good amount of playing time.
Tottenham would normally also surely be seen as a good option, and perhaps Gomes will want to live in London, but it’s also fair to say that it’s been a pretty dire season for Spurs under Ange Postecoglou, so that might harm them in the transfer market.
