Manchester United ended a dismal season on a high, winning their final Premier League game against Aston Villa 2-0, but Ruben Amorim still has a lot to figure out, mainly with regards to the futures of several influential stars, including Bruno Fernandes.
Alejandro Garnacho has already been told to find a new club, but the head coach will be taking the Argentine along on the club’s post-season tour of Asia.
Andre Onana’s future is also in the air, as is the skipper’s. The club captain has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al-Hilal submitting a blockbuster offer for the Portuguese.
The 30-year-old has three days to decide his next course of action and as per The Sun, his United teammates have “begged” him to reject the Saudi overtures and remain at Old Trafford.
“If the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in, it is what it is,” Fernandes had said after the Bilbao heartbreak, sending alarm bells ringing in the dressing room.
A source told the publication, “Bruno may be criticised but the players know what a talent he is. He can be demanding but they all respect him and sent him messages letting him know how valued he is.
“If he leaves, the dressing room would fall apart.”
The Saudi Pro League side have reportedly submitted a €100 million bid to secure his services while they are ready to hand him a €77m-a-year contract.
Bruno Fernandes reportedly has no intention of leaving for the Middle East just yet, and should INEOS sanction his departure, the Portugal international would prefer to stay in Europe.
Real Madrid could revisit their interest while Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested and ready to open talks with the Red Devils.
The club captain is the only world-class player in the squad and Ruben Amorim has made it clear that his talisman is not for sale.
He was sensational again during United’s win against Aston Villa, controlling the midfield while Amad stole the show from the wingback position.
