Manchester United’s FA Cup win over Arsenal came under difficult circumstances with the team having to play for over an hour with 10 men. They had to dig deep to take the game to penalties and eventually triumphed 5-3.

Apart from the solid display from the backline, two unlikely heroes in the form of Altay Bayindir and Alejandro Garnacho emerged, and Ruben Amorim must have been pleased with the Argentine’s display.

The FA Youth Cup winner was dropped from the Manchester derby matchday squad and questions were raised about his application in training and off-field activities.

The head coach was reportedly unimpressed with his lack of effort out of possession, and demanded more hard work and consistency from the 20-year-old.

Garnacho’s struggles under Amorim

There were murmurs that Garnacho was not a natural fit in the new coach’s 3-4-3 system and as a result, the winger was linked with a sensational exit with INEOS reportedly on the hunt for pure profit.

His former club Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain were named as suitors but the most serious interest was coming from Napoli, who were looking at the academy graduate as a potential replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli met with Garnacho’s camp and spoke to the Red Devils and were met with a firm response, with the English club valuing their young superstar at €80 million, something the Serie A outfit wound find hard to pay.

“Napoli has already sounded out Manchester United for Alejandro Garnacho, 20 years old, one of the best talents of his generation.

Napoli cannot afford Garnacho

“The answer was chilling: 80m million is needed. A big discount is needed, which is why Manna then landed in Barcelona last night, to speak with the player’s agents and understand the feasibility of the deal.”

The report further claimed that Conte’s side are also looking at Karim Adeyemi of Borussia Dortmund as well as a loan move for Timo Werner.

There have been murmurs of interest in Marcus Rashford as well but one thing is certain, most teams would find it hard to acquire Garnacho mid-season.

The Argentina international’s two most recent displays have once again reminded critics of his talent with the versatile forward picking up two assists in as many games.

Against Arsenal, he did not shy away from the dirty side of the game and if he keeps it up, United will most likely refrain from selling him, just what the fans want.
