Arsenal produced arguably one of their best-ever away performances in Europe as they demolished PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

The Gunners scored three goals in the first half and four goals in the second, and the tie is all but sealed. They can rest some of their key players in the second leg and still progress to the next round comfortably.

Martin Odegaard scored twice, while Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori also found the net.

The Daily Mail was full of praise for Nwaneri, and they gave him an 8.5 rating out of ten.

The newspaper wrote: “What a talent. Looked a threat from the start and was Arsenal’s star player tonight. Got a goal himself with a blistering strike from close range and helped set up Odegaard.”

Ethan Nwaneri is a special talent for Arsenal

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is a rare talent, and this performance will give him tremendous confidence.

He has already made six starts in the Premier League this season, scoring three goals. He has also scored two goals in the Champions League.

The youngster attempted four shots on goal and looked a threat throughout the match.

Arsenal are way behind Liverpool in the Premier League, and they are almost out of the race. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup, which means the Champions League remains the only competition they can truly focus on.

The Gunners look set to take on either 15-time champions Real Madrid or their city rivals Atletico in the quarterfinals. Real won the first leg of their last-16 tie 2-1 on Tuesday.

Arsenal had failed to find the net in three of their previous four matches, but they finally found the solution to their attacking issues.
