Manchester City had to suffer a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League knock-out stage. Their next game is lined up with Newcastle United in the Premier League this weekend.
The Citizens will not only look to win this game but also set the momentum well ahead of the second leg next week. It will be an important game for Pep Guardiola’s side to regain confidence before they take on the Spanish side once again.
Defence
Ederson could’ve done much better to avoid Real Madrid goals but he is expected to keep his position for now. Matheus Nunes should come into the XI at the cost of Manuel Akanji, who was used as the right-back.
The centre-back duo of Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake is likely to remain intact. Even Josko Gvardiol keeps his spot in the lineup as the left full-back. He had a brilliant game against Madrid and will look to continue his good run.

Midfield
Pep Guardiola could hand Nico Gonzalez his Premier League debut, keeping Kevin De Bruyne on the bench and keeping the midweek game in mind. To accompany the Spanish midfielder, Mateo Kovacic is the front-runner.
Attack
Savinho continues to operate on the right flank while Omar Marmoush comes in to operate in the mid areas. As Jack Grealish is unavailable for this fixture, Phil Foden should be filling his spot.
Erling Haaland leads the front line without any doubt and will be easy to find the back of the net.
Rodri, Jack Grealish, Oscar Bobb and Manuel Akanji are unavailable for selection for the Citizens for this weekend’s game.
