Nothing to fear but fear itself when it comes to Arsenal

As all Newcastle United fans know, United have played Arsenal three times already this season.

All three ending up with the good guys winning.

Arsenal losing 1-0 back in November 2024 to a superb Anthony Gordon cross headed brilliantly home by Alexander Isak.

Then early 2025 seeing a thumping United 4-0 aggregate win to send Eddie Howe’s side to Wembley, Isak and Gordon with the goals at the Emirates, then Murphy and Gordon (again) at St James’ Park.

However, it goes far deeper than that when judging things now, ahead of Arsenal v Newcastle United on Sunday.

Two teams that are in very different places now.

For Newcastle United and their fans, when it comes to Arsenal there is really nothing for us to fear but fear itself.

I am not suggesting that we are suddenly so self-entitled where we automatically think our team will win.

However, there is absolutely zero reason to believe that Newcastle United aren’t capable of getting a positive result on Sunday.

When it comes to the matter of winning football matches, how have Newcastle United and Arsenal been getting on these  last five months or so.

So it isn’t just a sample of a few weeks, a few matches.

Looking at the last 28 domestic matches, Arsenal have won 12 of theirs, whilst Newcastle United have won…21 of their last 28.

Over the course of this entire 2024/25 season, Liverpool have proved to be the best team.

Then Arsenal, over the entire season, so far (in the Premier League).

However, quite clearly Arsenal haven’t been anywhere close to be in the top two performing Premier League clubs these past five months. That would be…Newcastle United.
