Borussia Dortmund will be without several players for Friday’s Bundesliga game against St. Pauli at the Westfalenstadion.
Speaking at Wednesday’s press conference, Nuri Şahin confirmed that Yan Couto will be sidelined, alongside Karim Adeyemi, Julien Duranville and Giovanni Reyna.
On Couto, Şahin said: “He has a small muscle injury on his buttocks. That will take another 10 to 14 days,” before adding: “Maximilian Beier and Julien Ryerson are ill. Niklas Süle was laid up for two days with a stomach bug.”
Beier did score against Bulgaria for the Germany U21s last week but was absent for their game against Poland due to illness. Yet to score for his new club, it’s yet to be seen as to whether or not the 21-year-old forward will feature for Borussia Dortmund on Friday.
With growing injuries in the first team, Kjell Wätjen and Filippo Mane are also closer to featuring for the professional squad. “The boys are not lacking anything, but they have competition in their positions,” added Şahin. “The injuries are bringing them closer.”
