Sunderland AFC have officially announced the arrival of Enzo Le Fée (24) from Roma on loan with an option to buy.
Le Fée arrived in the Italian capital during the summer from Stade Rennais when he was persuaded to join the club by conversations with then-head coach Daniele De Rossi. However, after only four games, De Rossi was sacked and replaced by Ivan Jurić.
Jurić did not last much longer, with Claudio Ranieri becoming the latest in the Roman hot seat. This is where problems began to emerge for Le Fée who did not have the favour of the latest Roma head coach.
In winter, Roma sanctioned a departure for the midfielder and Sunderland were quick to snatch the opportunity. Their head coach Régis Le Bris had previously worked with Le Fée and helped the midfielder record an exceptional season where they led Lorient FC to a 10th place finish in Ligue 1.
Sunderland are thick in the hunt for promotion and sit only three points off league leaders Leeds United. It has widely been reported that Le Fée’s loan will become permanent if Sunderland are promoted back to the Premier League.
