The club have released a new Newcastle United training gallery of photos.
The images released, showing Newcastle United players training ahead of Sunday’s match.
A bit of insight…potentially, into who may and may not be available for this game, as Newcastle United take on Arsenal at the Emirates.
Newcastle United looking to make it six home Premier League wins in a row.
The photos published by Newcastle United featuring training and the following first team squad players involved from what we could see:
Harvey Barnes, Dan Burn, Mark Gillespie, Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak, Emil Krafth, Sean Longstaff, Lewis Miley, Alex Murphy, Will Osula, John Ruddy, Fabian Schar, Sandro Tonali, Joe Willock, Callum Wilson
As you can see, 16 first team squad players featuring in the official training photos released.
Earlier on Friday, Eddie Howe on team news:
Eddie Howe on Joelinton:
“He’s working away behind the scenes. Typical Joe he’s absolutely foot to the floor trying to get fit because he wants to be involved. The biggest possibility is that we don’t see him again this season and we’ll get him ready for next year.”
Eddie Howe on Sven Botman:
“It was a knock, he got a bang on his knee. We’re not sure about Sven’s availability for the weekend but we’ll give him a chance to be fit. We don’t think it’s a serious injury. He’s been unlucky. You’re going to get knocks and bruises in his position and this is a similar thing, he’s been really unlucky on the last two occasions.”
Eddie Howe on Kieran Trippier:
“I don’t think [he will be available] for this weekend. But again, it’s not a big injury, a very minor calf problem.”
Eddie Howe on Joe Willock:
“We will leave the door open for him again and I think there’s a slight chance [He will be available for this Arsenal match].”
No surprise that Lewis Hall, Kieran Trippier and Matt Targett were missing from the training photos.
Whilst Joelinton and Sven Botman also can’t be seen joining in with group training in these images.
Joe Willock on the other hand features prominently. My assumption is that he will be part of the matchday squad on Sunday.
Interesting as well to see Alex Murphy back involved in first team training. After the second half of the season with Bolton on loan (13 appearances and scored two goals), the 20 year old left-footed central defender will be available now I think, having helped Bolton finish eighth in League One. I think he will be included in Sunday’s matchday squad.
Always difficult to make any assessment for sure on those missing from the Newcastle United training images. With sometimes certain players who are training, not featuring in the officially released images, by accident or design.
I would assume that the trio of keepers not seen (Pope, Dubravka and Vlachodimos) are fine.
Whilst Jacob Murphy and Jamaal Lascelles were amongst the outfield players who couldn’t be seen in the Newcastle United training images.
