La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Sunday announced a fresh personnel setback in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is set for an incoming spell on the treatment table.
The subject of injuries has of course dominated the headlines in Spain’s capital for several months now. This comes after leading members of ex-boss Carlo Ancelotti’s squad continued to drop like flies.
As things stand, the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Endrick, Ferland Mendy and Antonio Rüdiger are sidelined through injury.
And as alluded to above, this weekend, yet another blow has been confimed
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Following tests carried out on Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with sacroiliitis. His recovery will be monitored.’
Sacroiliitis is described as ‘inflammation in the joint where your spine meets your pelvis,’ a condition which causes pain and discomfort for the suffering individual.
Courtois is not thought to be facing up to any kind of significant spell on the sidelines, but looks set to miss both of Belgium’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against North Macedonia and Wales.
