La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Tuesday announced that Éder Militão has undergone a successful surgical procedure on his knee.
Defender Militão, for his part, was of course condemned to another long-term spell on the sidelines earlier this month.
En route to Real’s 4-0 La Liga drubbing of Osasuna, the Brazilian international went to ground in evident distress, before being stretchered out of proceedings amid concerning scenes.
An ensuing round of medical tests then confirmed the worst – that Militão had suffered a 2nd ACL tear in the space of a little over a year.
The 26-year-old has spent the week since recuperating at home, ahead of a long and arduous journey back to full fitness.
And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday morning, his recovery took its first significant step forward.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘Our player Eder Militão has successfully undergone surgery today on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The operation was performed by Dr. Manuel Leyes, under the supervision of the Real Madrid Medical Services.
‘Militão will start his recovery process in the next few days.’
