Old Firm farce: Rangers fans can’t believe what Sky Sports have just done

Rangers fans are absolutely fuming after Sky Sports’ latest stunt — teaming up Scott Arfield with none other than Chris Sutton for punditry duty at today’s Old Firm clash.

Let’s be clear — Arfield is a Rangers man. He gave everything for the shirt, always spoke with class, and never hid his affection for the club or its fans. So to throw him alongside Sutton, arguably the most openly anti-Rangers pundit in British broadcasting, is nothing short of a wind-up from Sky.

Supporters haven’t held back. Social media lit up the moment the pairing was revealed, with fans slamming the broadcaster for what they see as yet another calculated attempt to get a rise out of the Ibrox support. One fan wrote: “Putting Arfield next to Sutton is just baiting us. They can’t help themselves.” Another said: “Sky wonder why we turn the sound off.”

It’s not the first time Sky Sports have played these games. Whether it’s Sutton’s smug grin any time Rangers are discussed, or his repeated digs at the club’s players, fans, and history, he’s made a career out of stoking the flames. And while punditry is meant to offer balance, this isn’t balance — it’s provocation.

Arfield, to his credit, has handled it professionally. But he shouldn’t be put in this position. He should be analysing the game with fellow professionals, not babysitting a provocateur with a Celtic agenda.

Once again, Sky Sports have shown a complete lack of respect for Rangers supporters. And once again, they’ve reminded us why so many of us mute the coverage and watch the football our way.

Rangers fans aren’t mugs. We see it. We know it. And we’re not having it.
