Liverpool are said to be closely monitoring the 25-year-old’s situation as Arne Slot and co weigh up their transfer options in attack as the future of compatriot Mohamed Salah remains up in the air.

However, Eintracht Frankfurt wants to extend his contract by another year until 2028, a contract that would not include a release clause in an attempt to stave off potential suitors.

Keeping the sought-after Marmoush this winter transfer window is the Bundesliga club’s top priority and it’s easy to see why as Liverpool circle for the highly-rated frontman.

Marmoush is currently clear of Harry Kane as the top scorer in the Bundesliga and has registered 16 goal involvements for club and country so far this season.

Egyptian sports broadcaster Ahmed Schubert has previously described the versatile attacker as a ‘distinguished talent’ and a ‘wonderful player’ who would appear to be a star on the rise in Germany.

All You Need To Know: Omar Marmoush

The forward began his career in 2016 in the Egyptian Premier League at Wadi Degla where he made 16 league appearances, scoring twice, before moving to VfL Wolfsburg II in 2017.

After making 36 appearances for the reserve team, scoring 11 times, he debuted for Wolfsburg on May 26, 2020, and signed his first professional contract for the club on June 23.

For the second half of the 2021/22 season, Wolfsburg loaned him to FC St. Pauli, where he made 21 appearances, scoring seven times.

He followed this with a season-long loan at VfB Stuttgart, where he scored a last-minute equaliser against his future employers Eintracht Frankfurt on his debut.

The Egyptian international added two goals in his other 20 games for the club and was named Bundesliga Rookie of the Month for September 2021 and March 2022.

He joined Eintracht Frankfurt at the start of last season. In 41 appearances, he scored 17 times, 12 of which were in the Bundesliga, making him the third-highest African scorer in the league.

The 25-year-old has started this season where he left off the last. Indeed, he is the top scorer in the Bundesliga. On Sunday, October 6, he bagged a brace at home to Bayern Munich, the second of which was a 94th-minute equaliser.

Marmoush plays on the opposite wing to Mohamed Salah for the Egypt national team. He has scored six in 32 Egyptian caps, including on his debut – the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Libya.

REDMEN REACTS

Marmoush’s numbers speak for themselves – he has joint-most goal involvements in the top five leagues in Europe this term and the ability to operate as a centre forward as well as in wide areas makes him a very tempting prospect for The Reds.

Liverpool currently owns six elite attackers, but with the Anfield club and Salah yet to agree on a new contract, his fellow countryman may be the perfect replacement.
