Pep Guardiola revealed last week that Oscar Bobb was making significant progress in his return from the fractured leg that has derailed his 24/25 season. The Manchester City manager told the media last week that Bobb had stepped up his training. Guardiola also added that Oscar Bobb had also recently featured in a friendly for City’s Elite Development Side (EDS). Now the young winger has gotten through 61 minutes of Manchester City’s EDS side’s 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace earlier today. All indications are that Bobb’s return to the Manchester City first team is now imminent.
Oscar Bobb got through 61 minutes of Manchester City’s EDS side’s defeat yesterday. He showed that his touch and class remain after such a lengthy layoff. More importantly, he got through the game unscathed. That’s an important step in his recovery from the serious injury he sustained on the eve of the 24/25 season. In more positive news for Manchester City young centre-back Vitor Reis played the full 90 minutes. The fact that Reis also played is a good sign for the young Brazilian defender.
If Oscar Bobb can maintain his fitness over the international break he could make his return to the Manchester City first team for their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. That game is two weeks away so Bobb should have plenty of time to progress in his recovery from injury. But he is making progress as evidenced by the fact he featured for City’s EDS side earlier today. Now it appears to be a matter of time before he is back in Pep Guardiola’s squad for the final stages of this season.
