Hannes Delcroix is believed to be attracting interest from Oxford, who have already made a couple of additions during this window.
Championship side Oxford United have taken an interest in Burnley defender Hannes Delcroix.
This is according to Football Insider, who believe numerous English second-tier teams are currently taking an interest in the centre-back, who can also play as a left-back.
The U's have already made a couple of additions during this window, with Ole Romeny coming in and Tom Bradshaw arriving on a permanent deal from Millwall.
However, there's probably more work for Gary Rowett to do before the January transfer window closes, even though his team are above the drop zone at this point and have a decent number of options in some areas.
Their left-back department is one that arguably needs to be looked at, with the U's relying fairly heavily on Greg Leigh at this point in the absence of Joe Bennett.
Jack Currie is someone who could potentially be recalled, but Oxford haven't moved to bring him back from Leyton Orient at this stage.
The striker area is another department that may need to be looked at in the coming weeks - and they were linked with a move for Reading midfielder Harvey Knibbs earlier in the window.
They could potentially move for a defensive player first though.
Elliott Moore has spent time on the sidelines this season and so has Ben Nelson.
Sam Long is the latest player in the treatment room after being forced off against Plymouth Argyle in midweek - and they could now face a bit of a crisis in this area - at least in the short term.
Ciaron Brown has performed very well at times this season, but a centre-back and a left-back may need to be brought in before the winter window closes.
And Delcroix, who can operate in both positions, is of interest to Oxford, according to Football Insider.
The Clarets are keen to keep hold of the player in the long term, but are open to letting him go out on loan, with the player spending time out injured this term and failing to make that many appearances for the Lancashire side during his stay at Turf Moor.
Standard Liege and other English second-tier teams are also thought to be interested in his signature, so Oxford could face a real battle in their quest to get this deal over the line.
Delcroix hasn't played this season, partly because of injuries, and this is why this potential signing would be a bit of a risk.
However, he's clearly a talented player and he could prove to be a real hit at the Kassam Stadium during the second half of the season if he stays fit and manages to regain his match sharpness quickly.
When central defenders return to the fold, he could potentially go to left-back and shine there, and his versatility is a big reason why he could be a shrewd addition.
It's promising that Oxford are busy - because they could benefit from signings to give themselves the best chance of securing a good league finish at the end of the season.
