Igor Paixao was the star of the show as Feyenoord recorded an impressive 1-0 victory over Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night, and reports on Thursday have revealed that Roma made attempts to sign the 24-year-old during the January transfer window.
Paixao scored the only goal of the game three minutes into the Champions League play-off match between Feyenoord and Milan, and received plenty of praise from pundits and the press in the aftermath, including from Fabio Capello on Sky Sport Italia.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Roma had made attempts to sign the Brazilian winger during the January transfer window, but were not able to pull off a deal given that he is currently committed to a contract that runs until the summer of 2029.
Specifically, Roma had attempted to secure a deal for Paixao ahead of the summer transfer window, but were looking to get an agreement wrapped up in January.
The Giallorossi had a productive end to the January transfer window in the end, eventually signing Lucas Gourna-Douath, Anass Salah-Eddine and Victor Nelsson, on top of the earlier arrivals of Devyne Rensch and Pierluigi Gollini.

Roma will likely face competition from a number of clubs across Europe if they still wish to sign Paixao in the summer though, as Calciomercato.com claims that both Arsenal and Tottenham are also interested.
It is expected that Feyenoord will seek a fee in excess of €30m for the 24-year-old, who has eight goals and 14 assists across all competitions to his name this season.
