Leandro Paredes is no longer guaranteed to stay at Roma.
The midfielder’s future remains uncertain as Boca Juniors appear to close in on him in the final days of the January transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the player would eagerly join his former side, thus leaving Roma a few months prior to the expiry of his contract.
Argentine media reported a conversation with Juan Ramon Riquelme, the club’s idol and current manager, in which Paredes asked for an effort to raise his salary offer (1 million per season) in exchange for a reduction in his current salary (4 million).
Ranieri also expressed his opinion on the matter, without excluding the possibility of a farewell (“He didn’t say anything to me, but I’m not holding anyone back”).
But considering Paredes’ importance in the team, a possible separation would require identifying a further reinforcement in midfield.
