Neto reveals what he told James before United win

James was restored to the starting line-up at right back having been on the bench for last weekend’s defeat against Newcastle.

It’s been a difficult season for James who has once again struggled with injury, but since returning to the side in January he’s managed to stay fit.

Maresca deserves credit for how he’s managed James’ minutes, and the captain has now made 25 appearances in all competitions this season, significantly more than he managed last season.

James showed his quality on the ball for the goal, and Gary Cahill believes he’s one of the best full-backs in Europe.

Neto, who also played last night has revealed he actually told the England international before the game he would get an assist.

“I told Reece before the game he would get an assist! He’s an unbelievable player, and Cucu one more time scored the important goal, a beautiful goal,” he said as cited on X.com.

Cucurella shines again

Whist James impressed on the right, Cucurella once again put in another impressive performance on the left hand side.

The Spaniard scored his fifth goal of the year making him Chelsea’s top scorer in 2025, and his redemption at Stamford Bridge is quite the story.

The Blues lack an alternative to the Spain international and need a back-up option incase he gets injured, with Ajax star Jorrel Hato a target.
