Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has urged those in charge at the Etihad to be active in the transfer market to bring his side's miserable run of form to an end.
City have fallen to seventh in the Premier League standings on a run of just one win in their last 13 games across all competitions, five points adrift of the top four having played one more game than Arsenal, who are back in action on Friday evening.
Guardiola has not shied away from discussing his side's struggles with injury, with fitness issues leaving him able to name only three recognised senior players on the bench for Thursday's 1-1 draw with Everton, one of whom was third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson.
"We have to add players, definitely," Guardiola told Amazon Prime.
"You know, we struggle - especially at the back and in the middle so I think we have to. But saying that, I do not know what is going to happen. The transfer window in winter is not easy but everyone is aware of that. Even our players are aware of our situation and what we need to do."
City are expected to be incredibly active in the transfer market across 2025. A replacement for the injured Rodri is a priority but Guardiola is also keen for more defenders to be signed as well as some viable competition for striker Erling Haaland.
A squad rebuild is on the agenda at the Etihad and club officials recognise the urgent need to recruit, and so they will bring their plans forward to the January window instead of taking the traditional route of waiting until the summer.
