Milan once again had to fall behind before mounting a comeback, eventually sealing a 2-1 away win over Genoa thanks to Rafael Leão and an own goal by Morten Frendrup, which overturned Vitinha’s opener.
The Rossoneri completed yet another turnaround despite not being at their best, with Genoa’s fragile confidence—following two straight defeats—contributing to their rapid collapse.
Here are the player ratings.
Genoa: Leali 6; Sabelli 6 (46′ Zanoli 6), De Winter 5.5, Vasquez 5.5, Martin 6.5; Masini 6, Frendrup 5.5; Norton-Cuffy 5.5, Messias 6 (60′ Vitinha 6.5), Thorsby 5.5 (72′ Ahanor 5); Pinamonti 6.

Best Genoa player: Vitinha 6.5 –Made an instant impact that gave his side a chance to earn points for the first time in three games. Unfortunately for him, his first goal of the season ultimately proved inconsequential.
Lowest Genoa rating: Ahanaor 5 –His introduction marked the beginning of Genoa’s collapse, with his failure to track Santiago Gimenez proving especially costly, as it led to the equaliser that reignited Milan’s hopes and undermined the solid performance Genoa had produced up to that point.
Genoa coach: Patrick Vieira 5.5 –His side looked capable of bouncing back from a difficult spell until Milan’s equaliser, showing the character and intensity that had defined many of their performances earlier in the season. However, two quick lapses in concentration undid their good work and added to their recent dismal run.
Milan: Maignan 6.5; Tomori 6.5 (79′ Walker n/a), Gabbia 6, Pavlovic 5.5; Jimenez 5.5 (70′ Joao Felix 6), Reijnders 6.5, Fofana 6 (28′ Leao 7), Theo Hernandez 6; Pulisic 6 (79′ Musah n/a), Loftus-Cheek 6.5; Jovic 5.5 (70′ Gimenez 6.5).

Best Milan player: Leao 7 – As has often been the case this season, he responded to his coach’s decision to leave him out by showing a strong determination to prove him wrong — and did so with an attacking sharpness he often lacks when starting. His involvement in both goals once again underscores his importance to Milan’s attacking play.
Lowest Milan rating: Pavlovic 5.5 – More hesitant than usual, his timid defending on Vitinha proved costly in a match where his side was already struggling to keep their opponents away from the box.
Milan coach: Sergio Conceiçao 6 – With little left to play for in Serie A and European spots seemingly out of reach, the Rossoneri once again displayed two sides over the course of 90 minutes — vulnerable when they fail to match their opponents’ intensity, yet capable of turning games around in an instant thanks to the wealth of talent at their disposal. While their recent momentum will certainly help in the Coppa Italia final, they’ll need more than an average performance to overcome Bologna.
