If Borussia Dortmund hopes to qualify for Europe, they must treat every remaining match like a final. The Black and Yellows demonstrated their resolve last weekend, fighting back against Borussia Mönchengladbach and holding on to their lead to secure all three points.
Niko Kovač had settled on a fairly consistent Starting XI in recent weeks, but he will have a couple of notable omissions this weekend. Maxi Beier, who was forced off against Gladbach last weekend, has not been able to train fully and will therefore be unavailable for selection. Pascal Groß was also said to have picked up a ligament injury last weekend, and local newspaper Ruhr Nachrichten reports he has not made the matchday squad.
Niko Kovač is likely to stick with the 3-5-2 that has been working in recent weeks. While the front-three had promising moments, without all three of Adeyemi, Guirassy, and Beier fit, that system isn’t necessarily feasible. The biggest question will be in the backline, as Anton, Bensebaini, and Süle have looked good in the two recent wins. However, if Emre Can is fit, he could displace one of them.
