Liverpool are determined to retain Trent Alexander-Arnold despite persistent interest from Real Madrid.

According to SPORT, the Premier League club has not given up hope of keeping their star right-back, much like Bayern Munich successfully convinced Alphonso Davies to stay.

Despite multiple renewal offers from Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold has so far declined to extend his contract. Meanwhile, Real Madrid are said to be monitoring the situation closely, aiming to secure the defender’s services next summer.

Real Madrid need a right-back

The urgency for Madrid to strengthen their right flank has intensified following Dani Carvajal’s serious injury. With only Lucas Vazquez available to fill the role, Madrid’s defensive lineup is under strain.

Vazquez, while a reliable substitute, lacks the specialist qualities needed to consistently perform as a starter. Compounding the issue is the absence of Eder Militao, who has often provided defensive cover.

Real Madrid reportedly made an attempt during the winter transfer window to negotiate a deal for Alexander-Arnold. The club was willing to offer between €20 million and €30 million to persuade Liverpool to part ways with their player.

However, Liverpool stood firm, rejecting all offers despite the risk of losing the defender on a free transfer next summer.

Liverpool are still hopeful

Liverpool’s persistence remains unwavering. They continue to present renewal proposals to Alexander-Arnold, who is expected to receive further offers as the season progresses.

The club is well aware of Real Madrid’s influence in Alexander-Arnold’s decision to hold off on renewing his contract. Nevertheless, Liverpool remain resolute, unwilling to surrender one of their most valuable homegrown talents.
