Gunners looking for place in quarter-finals
Arsenal tonight travel up to Preston, looking for a place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The Gunners may have other priorities on the agenda this season as they look to compete towards the upper echelons of the Premier League and the Champions League but a deep run in this competition would hardly be a bad thing.
Indeed, few would doubt Mikel Arteta has been a fantastic job in north London and is on an upward trajectory but the lack of silverware is a slight blot on his copybook.
Arteta won the FA Cup in his first few months in charge of course but is yet to follow that up and the Carabao Cup could provide an excellent chance to add to his list of honours.
Preston North End vs Arsenal is scheduled for a 7.45pm GMT kick-off time tonight on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Given the sheer number of injuries Arsenal are dealing with and the relentless schedule, it would not be a surprise to see Arteta name a young side – as he did in the 5-1 thrashing of Bolton in the third round.
William Saliba is available again after serving a one-game suspension, but Gabriel is now expected to miss out after being forced off against Liverpool, though his injury is not thought to be serious. Jakub Kiwior should come in, while Oleksandr Zinchenko will hope for more minutes in defence. Bukayo Saka will surely be rested, while captain Martin Odegaard will miss out but is making good progress on a return.

The Gunners may not be at full strength but have a batch of exciting youngsters who will no doubt be looking to stake their claim. Whatever the make-up of the team, Mikel Arteta’s charges will have enough to secure a quarter-final spot.
