Preview: York City Ladies vs Leeds United Women

Leeds United Women round off their FA WNL Division One North campaign this Sunday with a trip to face York City Ladies away from home.
The encounter will be a reverse of a memorable meeting between the sides earlier in the season, that saw nearly 5,000 fans pack into Elland Road to cheer Simon Wood’s team on to a scintillating 3-0 victory. Goals that day came from Amy Woodruff, Drew Greene and Darcie Greene.
The Whites head into the clash looking to finish the campaign as strongly as possible. Currently fourth in the standings, United can rise above Chorley and into third, should results go their way.
It was against the Lancashire outfit that brought victory for Leeds in their last outing, running out 4-1 winners with Woodruff again on the scoresheet, alongside a brace from midfielder Kath Smith and close-range finish by defender Shauna Legge.
York, meanwhile, have already confirmed safety in Division One North, with the Minster Belles currently seven points ahead of already-relegated Doncaster Rovers Belles and AFC Fylde.
The encounter will also be a special occasion for all connected with Leeds United Women, as it will be longstanding player Sarah Danby’s final appearance for the club.
The midfielder will retire from club football after the match, with more information about Sarah’s illustrious career HERE, including a sit down interview HERE.
Action from the York Sports Athletics Stadium gets underway at 2pm.
