Paris Saint-Germain heads to Anfield with plenty of momentum following a 4-1 victory over Stade Rennais on Saturday at Roazhon Park. The match was goalless for the first 25 minutes, but in the 27th, Bradley Barcola put PSG ahead 1-0.
The second half saw both teams exchange goals early. Gonçalo Ramos doubled PSG’s lead in the 50th minute, but Rennes quickly responded when a deflected corner kick fell near the post, and Lilian Brassier finished from close range.
Despite Rennes’ efforts to stay in the game, Ousmane Dembélé, who came on in the 64th minute, scored twice in stoppage time against his former team to complete a dominant 4-1 win for PSG.

After the match, PSG defender Lucas Hernandez spoke to the media about how the squad is feeling heading to Anfield for the return leg against Liverpool. One word that the French often used while talking to the press was confidence despite being down 1-0 on aggregate.
“We are very confident,” Hernandez said (h/t Canal Supporters). “We played a good match in the first leg. We are aware of that. [On Saturday], we played another good game. Everyone is confident and looking forward to this match, hoping to qualify of course…
“Everyone is confident, everyone wants to qualify. It’s a goal. We know it won’t be easy, it’s never easy to play at Anfield. But, we have great players, a great group, a great team. Honestly, we are in a very good dynamic and we hope to do what’s necessary at Anfield.”
