As reported by L’Équipe and RMC Sport, Wesley Fofana (23) is expected to withdraw from the France squad for the upcoming international break, and Ousmane Dembélé (27) could soon join him.

The decision for Fofana to miss France’s upcoming matches against Israel and Italy in the UEFA Nations League will reportedly come after consultation with Chelsea, who are looking to manage the former Leicester City and AS Saint-Étienne defender’s knee issue.

Dembélé, an ever-present in the set-up at Clairefontaine, could also now miss out, according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins. The former Barcelona winger felt discomfort in his hamstring when he came off the bench in Paris Saint-Germain’s 4-2 victory over SCO Angers on Saturday night. However, despite the discomfort, Dembélé is expected to travel to Clairefontaine on Monday. There, he will undergo tests with the France medical staff. A decision will then be taken on his presence in Les Bleus’ squad for the upcoming international break.
