Claudio Ranieri protested the VAR’s to not award a penalty in Roma’s favor in the second half of the match against Atalanta.
After the defeat in Bergamo, Ranieri exploded in his post-match interview with DAZN.
“Is the Champions League still feasible? I don’t know. We’ll play as we always have, fighting until the end. Many compliments to Atalanta who qualified tonight.”
“What I wanted to know: was there a penalty or not? They always told us that VAR only intervenes with an error. You can clearly see that Pasalic touched my player’s knee. Either they explain to us how we have to comply, or you can’t do it once yes or no.”
“There Sozza gave a penalty and it was a penalty, if we want to change from game to game we do it like this, it’s a shame that there is no linearity of judgment. I’m sure that Rocchi will tell the right person, you can see that Pasalic touched Koné’s knee. You can clearly see that he was giving the penalty.”
“We had some good opportunities, Atalanta took advantage of them, we didn’t, but I congratulate the lads. We accept everything, but we want to know for sporting justice why VAR intervened.”
