Real Madrid’s long-standing interest in Dean Huijsen appears to be in jeopardy, as Bayern Munich have stepped up their pursuit of the 20-year-old Bournemouth centre-back.
According to a record from Fichajes, the Bundesliga giants are now leading the race for the Spanish-Dutch defender, potentially hijacking a move Los Blancos had been quietly preparing for months this year.
Huijsen has quickly become one of the most talked-about young defenders in Europe. His composure, physicality, and ability to play out from the back have earned him praise across the continent.
At just 20 years of age, the defender already looks like a player geared up for the highest level — something Real Madrid had hoped to capitalise on as part of their ongoing assignment to refresh their backline.
Meanwhile, it is said that Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has identified Huijsen as a priority signing this summer.

The former Manchester City captain is willing to approve a major shake-up in defence to house the Bournemouth star.
Furthermore, the defender’s €58 million buyout clause makes him a high-value target for any top club, and Real Madrid appear to be fading away with this price.
As such, Huijsen has remained calm amidst the transfer speculation, but the opportunity of a bidding war cannot be ruled out — particularly now that Bayern appear geared up to behave decisively.
Real Madrid, who have built their recent success on identifying younger talent early, have pinpointed Huijsen as their favourite candidate, but there are many factors working against them.
With the summer window drawing near, the pressure is mounting. If Bayern pass first, Los Blancos risk losing one of their top defensive targets to a European rival.
