It appears that Real Madrid will miss out on the services of one of their primary targets for the summer transfer window – Alphonso Davies.

The 24-year-old left-back is out of contract with Bayern Munich at the end of the season and for a long time it was believed that the player would leave the Bavarians as a free agent and sign for Real Madrid.

There had been reports of a verbal agreement between the Canadian international’s camp and Los Blancos dating as back as February 2024.

However, the situation has taken a drastic turn in recent weeks, with Bayern Munich making a hard push to keep hold of their ace defender.

Davies decides to stay at Bayern Munich

In fact, according to a report from journalist Ekrem Konur, Alphonso Davies has now decided that he will sign a new contract and stay at Bayern Munich beyond this season.

This development comes on the back of reports suggesting that the Canadian international’s agent, Nick Huoseh, was set for a crunch meeting with Bayern Munich in the coming days to finalise the contract renewal.

Davies has always been highly regarded at Bayern Munich and under Vincent Kompany this season, the left-back has been performing close to his best level.

Furthermore, the left-back has decided to lower his salary demands while the Bavarians have also become more flexible in terms of their renewal offer, paving the way for the two parties to continue discussions positively.

With less than six months left on his deal, Real Madrid would have the opportunity to secure a pre-contract agreement with Davies to join as a free agent in the summer.

However, it appears that the full-back has decided to continue with Bayern Munich and will sign a new contract to stay at the Allianz Arena.
