Inter Milan arch-rivals AC Milan reportedly have a significant advantage in the prospective transfer tug-of-war for Monza starlet Daniel Maldini.

According to La Repubblica, as reported by FCInterNews, the Rossoneri have inserted two vital clauses in Maldini’s summer transfer to the U-Power Stadium.

Indeed, Milan hold the right for half of a future resale. More importantly, they boast an option to match any offer for Maldini and take him back to San Siro.

The 22-year-old swapped his boyhood club for Monza in August after failing to secure regular first-team football at Milan.

Adriano Galliani brokered the deal, tying the super-talented forward to a two-year contract.

Little did he know that Maldini would soon attract attention from Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio.

Despite the Maldini dynasty’s inherent ties to the Rossoneri, the reigning Scudetto holders harbor genuine interest in the versatile forward.

However, Milan could spoil Ausilio’s plans.

That’s because the clause entitles them to a first-purchase option, diminishing Inter’s chances of luring Maldini to Giuseppe Meazza.

With the clause in place, Milan could hijack Inter’s potential bid for Maldini.

Yet, the player’s will could prove decisive.

Despite his family’s household status at San Siro, Daniel rarely had a chance to showcase his value at Milan.

Even Paulo Fonseca’s arrival couldn’t reignite his first-team hopes with the Rossoneri.

But a move to Monza has been a blessing in disguise, allowing his burgeoning talent to come to the surface.

After only seven matches in the 2024/25 Serie A season, he has earned his maiden senior call-up for the Italy national team.

Luciano Spalletti has included him in the squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Belgium and Israel.

Given Spalletti’s limited attacking options, Maldini could make his long-awaited debut against Belgium on Thursday.
