Inter Milan loanee Filip Stankovic is making strides at Venezia despite the latter’s ongoing battle against Serie A relegation.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the 22-year-old dreams of returning to Giuseppe Meazza.
However, Venezia will likely trigger an affordable €2 million buyout clause at the end of his loan spell.
Furthermore, that clause will become mandatory if Eusebio Di Francesco’s men avoid the drop.
Meanwhile, Inter will retain 50% of the future resale.
The situation may change if Venezia fail to uphold their elite status, especially with Stankovic eager to rejoin Inter.
Stankovic has enjoyed a sterling season at Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo.
Indeed, since dislodging Jesse Joronen from the starting line-up, he has made 13 consecutive league starts for Venezia.
Despite still searching for his first clean sheet, he has made an eye-catching 51 saves.
Only five Serie A goalkeepers have pulled off more.
However, that may not be sufficient to earn him a return to Giuseppe Meazza.
Inter signed Josep Martinez from Genoa last summer, forking out €15m to acquire his signature.
Though he’s only collected one appearance this season, he remains a viable candidate to replace Yann Sommer in the long run.
