Ruben Amorim says he could leave Man United next season if the culture within the club does not change.

The Portuguese tactician has overseen just six wins in 25 Premier League matches since leaving Sporting Club to replace Erik ten Hag as head coach last November.

West Ham United inflicted the latest defeat on the beleaguered Red Devils on Sunday as Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen scored in a 2-0 win at Old Trafford for Graham Potter’s side.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, Amorim lamented a “lack of energy and urgency” in his team’s play, calling it “the most dangerous things in this club”.

“If we are not able to do we have to go away and give the space to different people. All of us,” he said.

Man United sit 16th in the table, but can somewhat salvage the season if they beat Spurs in the Europa League final on 21 May. However, Amorim says winning the trophy is meaningless if they can’t fix the deeper issues plaguing the club.

“For me it doesn’t matter if we win the Europa League because the problems are much bigger than that.”

In his post-match press conference Amorim added that United need to be “strong and brave” in the summer transfer window before reiterating his suggestion he could leave next season if the situation does not change.

“I don’t want to talk about players,” he said. “I’m talking about myself and the culture in the club.

“The culture in the team. I have that feeling: we need to change that. We need to be really strong in the summer and to be brave. Because we will not have a next season like this.

“If we start like this, if the feeling is still here, we should give space to different persons.”

Winning the Europa League would also secure Champions League qualification for United, but Amorim is unsure whether or not playing in the competition next season would be good for the club.

“We are showing that in the end of this season that playing Premier League and Champions League for us is the moon,” he said.

“And so I’m not I’m not concerned about the final. They will be focused and I don’t know what is best. If it is playing in the Champions League or not.”
