Tributes are flowing in from across the globe to Luka Modric’s address after the player officially confirmed that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
The decision was not purely the player’s, for the Croatian star wished to continue at the club for at least one more season and even backed up his claim with strong performances.
Real Madrid’s management and administration, however, preferred a new project with a younger midfield and Modric was not one to stand in the way of their objectives.

Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos came out on his social media to convey his congratulations to Modric on a legendary career in white. After all, he shared the field with the maestro and was part of one of Real Madrid’s golden teams with him for close to a decade.
Opening up on the unexpected and untimely decision on his Instagram, Ramos said,
“Say goodbye to Real Madrid – a genius, a friend, a brother who has made football an art. One of those players for whom Madrid fills the stadium and the world stands in front of the screen in every game.”
Elaborating on what makes Modric that extra bit special over other players in the game, the defender said,
“An extraordinary player for his football and human quality, one of those people I am proud to call a friend. The Bernabéu spotlights won’t turn on again to see you over the green, but Real Madrid’s history books will always have you as one of the greatest.”
Concluding his farewell message to Modric, the former Real Madrid captain conveyed his heartfelt gratitude.
“Brother, Madrid fans have only one word to dedicate to you: THANK YOU. All the best in the next chapter. I’m sure we’ll follow it closely.”
