This midweek, there was a full slate of fixtures in both League One and League Two, meaning there was action for Tottenham Hotspur loanees. Let's take a look at how things went.

A brilliant evening across the EFL for Tottenham loanees

In League One, Josh Keeley, Jamie Donley, and their Leyton Orient side were back on the road, as they travelled to the South West to face Exeter City. As always, both players were named in the starting XI.

Although the O's have been in sensational form of late, not even they could have foreseen the start they made to the game. After just five minutes they took the lead, with former Spurs academy winger Dilan Marakanday grabbing an assist, before going 2-0 up after just seven minutes of the game.

For that second goal, Donley played an absolutely huge part. Picking the ball up near the right hand touchline, the 20-year old played a sublime, raking, left footed cross field ball to put team mate Azeem Abdulai through on goal, whom made no mistake. It was similar to Harry Kane's pass for Jude Bellingham for England against the Republic of Ireland back in November.

Six minutes later, Orient made it three, in just the most incredible start to the game. After that, things settled down for a little while, but not for too long. With a little over ten minutes remaining, Orient won the ball back high up the pitch, leading to Donley advancing well into the box - before squaring for Markanday to finish and make it 4-0. A goal made in N17.

The start to the second half, however, was not the same. In fact quite the opposite. Two minutes into the second half, Keeley conceded a rare goal, before the same happened again after 56 minutes. On the hour mark, the young Spurs goalkeeper was booked for timewasting, as Orient tried to take the sting out of the game.

However, after 64 minutes, Richie Wellens' side scored their fifth goal of the game. With 12 minutes left, they made it six. After a throw in from the left, the ball fell to Donley on the edge of the box, who struck the ball on the half volley, finding the roof of the net. Two assists and a goal for him on the night.

That would be that, and the O's would come away 6-2 winners, leaving them in sixth place, with 44 points from 27 games. This means they are now in a play-off position, and have a game in hand with a number of teams around them.

Next up is a big game against Stockport County, who sit in 5th place, on Saturday, at home, with a 15:00 GMT kick off.

Down in League Two, George Abbott started for Notts County, as they hosted struggling Carlisle United.

Nineteen minutes into the game, the young midfielder whipped in a cross from the right hand side, which was met by the head of Alassana Jatta, who put Notts into the lead. Nearly ten minutes later, Abbott created a big chance for David McGoldrick, but the veteran could not find the back of the net. Unlucky not to have two assists.

It would not matter, however, as that header from Jatta was enough to secure a big three points. Aside from the assist, it was another brilliant performance from Abbott, whom recorded; 80 touches, four chances created, two big chances created, 5/7 ground duels won, two clearances, four interceptions, and four tackles. An absolute unicorn of a player.

This win has lifted Notts to second in the League Two table, with 47 points from their 27 games. Owing to the tightness of the league, they are only two points above Port Vale in seventh, but it is nevertheless an encouraging position to be in.

Next up is an away game against Gillingham on Saturday, for one of the earlier 12:30 GMT kick off slots, live on Sky Sports red button for those in the UK.
