Mark Robins is believed to be on the radar of the Potters and the Baggies, with both on the prowl for a new manager.

Championship pair Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion are both eyeing a potential approach for ex-Coventry City boss Mark Robins.

This is according to talkSPORT, who have reported this news less than 48 hours after Narcis Pelach was dismissed from the top job at the bet365 Stadium.

It's fair to say that Stoke have struggled to hold down a manager in recent years - and constant unsuccessful changes in the dugout have led to fans becoming discontent.

Alex Neil failed to be a success in Staffordshire, Steven Schumacher didn't last very long either and Pelach failed to win any of his previous nine league games before his dismissal.

Clearly, Pelach was the wrong choice for the Potters, but some may argue that the job is a poisoned chalice at this point, which is a real blow for a Stoke side that had established themselves as a solid Premier League team during the previous decade.

Mistakes in the boardroom have been costly - and they need to get this next appointment right.

West Brom, meanwhile, saw Carlos Corberan make the move to Valencia during the Christmas period, which has forced them into the market for a new boss.

Despite their defeat on Boxing Day, they remain in and around the promotion mix at this point, and will be keen to stay there under Corberan's successor.

Stoke City and West Brom both keen on Mark Robins

Robins was previously at Coventry City - and he enjoyed an excellent time there.

Battling through turmoil to guide the Sky Blues from League Two to the Championship, he was then able to guide his team to the second-tier play-off final in 2023.

They fell short in the end, but did reach the FA Cup semi-final last term. Unfortunately, a poor start to this term ended up costing him his job, and he is now a free agent.

According to talkSPORT, he is on Stoke and Albion's shortlist.

These are two jobs that could be appealing to Robins, who may be keen to remain in the Midlands.

West Brom may be a better option for Mark Robins

As mentioned above, Stoke has been the place of high managerial turnover rate in recent years.

They have some decent players at their disposal, but the board have spent so much money and have not got the results they wanted.

On paper, they probably aren't a top-six team either, and the owners will be gutted that their investment hasn't paid off.

Robins could see this job as a good challenge for him.

But Albion, under new owners, could be a better destination at this point, especially if he wants to manage in the top flight in the next few seasons.

The Baggies have also cut their budget in recent years though, so it would be interesting to see what budget he would get at The Hawthorns.
