Sunderland remain in discussions with a Premier League side about selling a Black Cats star on deadline day and may feel that ‘the best decision is to cash in’, according to Sky Sports News.
Regis Le Bris is trying to keep Sunderland’s promotion push on track and has been in the market to make signings, following on from the coup that was Enzo Le Fee earlier in the window.
Le Bris must also guard against his top talents being snared away though, with Sunderland renowned for developing promising youngsters.
One of those in the shape of winger Tommy Watson is a wanted man and Premier League side Brighton are looking to snare him.
The Seagulls’ latest offer for the winger comes in at £8.5m plus add-ons.
Both clubs remain in talks about a deal happening before the window closes and it is suggested that Sunderland could decide cashing in is the best option.
The Black Cats are aware that Watson only has 18 months left on his deal.
He also has other admirers and they could yet try to jump into the mix and beat Brighton to his signature.
