Norwegian outlet Nettavisen have stated that Mvuka is free to leave Lorient this month, and Swansea are in negotiations with the French side after making a bid for the winger.

It's been reported by Nettavisen that an agreement for Mvuka to complete a move to Swansea should be completed in the next few days before the transfer window shuts, and the player will bring down the curtain on his two-year stay in France.

It's been no secret that Swansea are looking to add wide players to their squad this month, and it's no surprise to see them linked with Mvuka.

In recent times, the Swans have often opted to pursue young talents from abroad, and if he were to join, Mvuka would become their third player signed from Ligue 2 this season, after Zan Vipotnik and Florian Bianchini signed from Bordeaux and Bastia respectively.

Despite new ownership, Swansea still don't boast the finances that many of their Championship rivals do, and they often have to get creative in the transfer market, taking punts on players from abroad.

However, Mvuka looks to fit the bill for Swansea, and the former Norway U21 international has played for a number of clubs on the continent, playing European football for Young Boys and FK Bodo/Glimt.

Since joining Lorient in January 2023, it's not been plain sailing for Mvuka, and he's made just 24 appearances for the French side in two years, spending time on loan with Bodo/Glimt in 2023 and Young Boys in 2024.

However, he's featured regularly in Ligue 2 this season, making 16 appearances and scoring three goals, helping his side to top the Ligue 2 table after 20 games.

Despite this, his club are willing to let him leave this month if reports from Mvuka's homeland of Norway are to be believed, and he could be on his way to SA1 before the window closes on Monday night.

Swansea City need wide players before the transfer window closes

Swansea are in desperate need of wide players before the window closes, and that's been exacerbated by the poor form of Ronald and Jisung Eom recently.

In fairness to Ronald, his form has improved in recent games, but Eom has been on the bench since his poor performance away to Cardiff City with Myles Peart-Harris favoured instead, and it shows that it's an area of Swansea's squad where they are weak.

Swansea have seen Josh Ginnelly return from injury this month, but he appears to be a long way off playing 90 minutes, and after 16 months out injured it'll take him a while to get up to speed, so it's important Swansea bring in reinforcements this month.

As it stands, Swansea have a weaker squad than they started the January transfer window with, and it puts further emphasis on securing a deal for Mvuka before the deadline on Monday night.
