Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu praised Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, following the team’s 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Thursday night.

After Mikel Oyarzabal struck first via an early penalty, United seized control of the game, with Fernandes scoring twice from the penalty spot on 16 and 50 minutes before he produced a superb strike to complete his hat-trick.

Diogo Dalot then found the back of the net in added time, keeping alive United’s hopes of clinching some silverware this term.

Despite not getting on the score sheet, Dorgu was sensational, the highlight of his game being winning the hosts’ second penalty of the evening.

After the final whistle, the former Bologna man spoke to MUTV and gave his verdict on the result and performance.

“Yeah, finally and very good to get it in front of the home crowd and Old Trafford was really good, really good atmosphere and it was a good win.”

Asked how important it is to have him as an outlet down the left, Dorgu answered, “I think it’s important for the whole team to bring energy. Obviously I brought a lot today but I think the whole team was full of energy from the first minute.”

“You could already hear from the crowd as well that everyone was up for it.”

“I think after we scored 3-1 the game was much open and much easier to play. When we play with good teammates and they can find you in behind at the feet it’s easy to play.”

Dorgu said about playing with Fernandes and Casemiro, “It’s obviously nice to play with these players. They have so much quality on the ball. It’s easy for other players to connect with them.”

The 20-year-old explained that he just keeps making the runs in the hope that Fernandes and Casemiro will find him.

Dorgu had a few cracks at goal against Sociedad but unfortunately, couldn’t find the back of the net.

Asked if he’ll continue shooting, he joked, “I think Bruno needs to teach me a little bit but it’ll come, it’ll come soon.”

United will face Lyon in the quarter-finals, with the first leg in France on 10 April before the return at Old Trafford a week later.
